PSG leave Donnarumma out of UEFA Super Cup squad amid exit rumours

PARIS: Paris St Germain have left goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma out of their squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur, amid media reports linking the Italy international with a move away from the French side.
Donnarumma was PSG’s first-choice keeper and played a key role as they won the Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season. The 26-year-old has won the French top-flight three times since joining from AC Milan in 2021.
However, French media reported that Donnarumma, whose contract with PSG ends next year, may be on his way out this summer. PSG also signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille, who was named Ligue 1’s goalkeeper of the year last season.
Chevalier, Matvey Safonov and Renato Marin were the three keepers named in the squad on Tuesday for the match against Europa League champions Spurs.

The PSG squad include the following players for the clash: Achraf Hakimi, Lucas Beraldo, Marquinhos, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Fabian Ruiz, Goncalo Ramos, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Vitinha, Lee Kang-In, Lucas Hernandez, Nuno Mendes, Bradley Barcola, Lucas Chevalier, Warren Zaire-Emery, Matvey Safonov, Noham Kamara, Ibrahim Mbaye, Willian Pacho, Renato Marin.
Former Premier League referee David Coote’s case
Separately, the former coach was sanctioned and awarded an eight-week ban by the Football Association on Tuesday. The decision against him stemmed from comments he made about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp in a video statement that went viral last year.
Coote had been sacked by English soccer referees’ body PGMOL after a video, recorded in July 2020, circulated on social media showing the official allegedly abusing Klopp and after a full investigation, his position was deemed untenable.
The 43-year-old was charged by the FA in June and an independent Regulatory Commission has now imposed an eight-week suspension and mandatory face-to-face education programme on him. Meanwhile, Coote had admitted the charge.
“It was alleged that contrary to FA Rule E3.1 the referee acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words about Jurgen Klopp in a video that was recorded around July 2020 and appeared on social media in November 2024,” the FA said.
