PSL 10 awards: Hasan Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, and Kusal Perera win big

LAHORE: Following the end of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Sunday, an awards ceremony was held honouring some of the season’s best players.

Hasan Nawaz of the Quetta Gladiators was named the player of the tournament and the best batter, for his impactful knocks throughout his team’s campaign. Nawaz scored a total of 399 runs from the ten innings he played. He had an average of 57, with his highest score of 100 coming against Islamabad United on May 7. Nawaz also had three fifties, and finished the season with a strike rate of 162.19.

Like Nawaz, the Quetta Gladiators’ Abrar Ahmed also took home a consolation prize, being named the best bowler of the tournament. Ahmed took 17 wickets in 12 matches, tying him for second most wickets taken this season with four others. He had an economy of 7.34, and his best innings came in Quetta;s first match this season, when he took four wickets, while conceding 42 runs, against the Peshawar Zalmi.

Kusal Perera was named the player of the final, as his incredible knock against the Gladiators propelled the Qalandars to victory. He made a team high 62 runs off 31 delivieres, hitting five fours and four sixes in the process.

Mohammad Haris and Abdul Samad of the Peshawar Zalmi were named the best wicketkeeper and best fielder of the tournament respectively. Haris made 247 runs and was part of 12 dismissals, while Samad took nine catches in five matches. 

Mohammad Naeem of the Qalandars took home the award for best emerging player, as he scored 314 runs, and took seven catches. Quetta’s Faheem Ashraf was named best all-rounder, scoring 163 runs and taking 17 wickets in the touurnament. 

The Hanif Mohammad Cap, the award for most runs scored in the tournament, was awarded to Sahibizada Farhan of Islamabad United. He scored 449 runs in teh 12 matches he played, with a high score of 106, which came against the Peshawar Zalmi. 

The Fazal Mahmood Cap, the award for most wickets taken in the tournament, was awarded to Shaheen Shah Afridi of the Qalandars. He took 19 wickets in the 12 matches he played, with his best innings coming against United in the second qualifier, as he took three wickets, while only conceding three runs. 

The Spirit of Cricket Award was given to the Peshawar Zalmi.
