LAHORE: The valuation of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) assets and rights is expected to be completed by end-August, sources claimed on Wednesday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a tender for the valuation on July 12. Sources claimed that the application will continue to pour in until July 28.
Based on the valuation, a range of decisions will be made regarding the future of the PSL. Prime among them will be discussions centred on the league’s financial model, including sponsorships, broadcast, and media rights, which are likely to take place at the PSL governing body meeting which is reportedly set for the last week of August.

Considerations for the inclusion of two new teams will also reportedly be made. Currently, the PSL features six teams including the Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and the Multan Sultans. These six teams each play each other twice for a total of 30 matches in the regular season.
The addition of two new teams would bump this number up to 56 regular season matches, providing more opportunities for fans to catch their favourite players, more competition within the tournament itself, and more revenue for the PCB.
Sources also claim that a 25 per cent increase is expected in the fees of the six teams under contract currently. The franchise owners will be informed about the league’s brand value upon completion of the valuation.
