ISLAMABAD: In the midst of ongoing political upheaval in Pakistan cricket, former cricketer Rashid Latif has emerged as a vocal critic, highlighting the rapid turnover of three chairmen and five selectors in the past year.

A recent development in this saga involves Babar Azam, captain of the Pakistan cricket team, declining an offer from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The proposal suggested retaining Babar as the Test captain while relinquishing his role as captain in white-ball cricket.

In a meeting with PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf, Babar opted for a principled stand, choosing to resign from all formats.

Latif, reacting to the unfolding events, took to social media to elucidate the situation, pointing to apparent conflicts between Babar and some former cricketing icons in Pakistan.

Latif’s tweet underscored issues of rebellion, division, fixing, and group revolts, dating back to continuous political interference since 1981.

He argued that this interference is undermining the integrity of Pakistan cricket, supporting his stance with historical facts, recounting instances of division and resignations among PCB chiefs and captains.
