‘Rawalpindi Express’ Shoaib Akhtar turns 48

LAHORE: Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, considered as one of the most fearsome bowlers to have played the game, turned 48 on Sunday.

Throughout his 14-year old international career, debuting in 1997, Akhtar went on terrorise batters all over the world with his sheer pace and accuracy.
Shoaib represented Pakistan in 46 Tests, getting 178 wickets at an average of 25.69. His best bowling figures in an innings was 6/11.
In 163 One Day Internationals (ODIs), Akhtar bagged 247 wickets at an average of 24.97.
During the 2003 Cricket World Cup, he bowled the fastest delivery ever bowled in cricket history, clocking 161.3 km/h against England.
Following his retirement, Shoaib Akhtar took cricket commentary as a profession. He often shares his thoughts on the game on social media paltforms, including Youtube.
