HAMILTON: New Zealand scored an imposing 453 runs in their second innings on Sunday before, after limiting England to only 143 in their first.
NEW ZEALAND’S SECOND INNINGS
Before the Kiwis final wicket fell, Kane Williamson led the charge to their gigantic total. He made 156 runs off 204 deliveries during his fantastic knock, hitting 20 fours and one six along the way. It was the 33rd century of New Zealand’s greatest batsmen. Shoaib Bashir brought an end to Williamson’s innings, dismissing the batsmen in the 79th over. Bashir’s delivery found the top edge of Williamson’s bat as the Kiwi botched a sweep attempt, sending the ball to Rehan Ahmed at backward square leg.
Will Young and Daryl Mitchell had the next highest scores for New Zealand in their second innings, as both made 60 runs. Young scored the 10th century of his cricket career early on before he was dismissed by England skipper Ben Stokes in the 28th over, on a delivery that young pulled straight to midwicket, where Bethell was ready to take the catch.
Mitchell was equally impressive, scoring the 14th half century of his test career. He was dismissed in the 88th over, on a delivery from Jacob Bethell that the Kiwi tried to smash for six, but instead it was caught by Matthew Potts.

Bethell took three wickets for England, while Stokes took two of his own. Bashir dismissed two batters as well, but struggled during his 36 overs, conceding 170 runs.
ENGLAND IN TROUBLE EARLY
With a titanic score staring them down, England took to the field, and began to crumble immediately. Ben Duckett was dismissed in the second over on a delivery from Tim Southee that clipped the inside edge of the England openers’ bat before ricocheting into the off stump. Duckett only made four runs off one boundary before beign sent off.
England’s other opener Zac Crawley, was sent off shortly after in the fifth over. Matt Henry took the wicket, on a delivery that struck the Crawley’s front pad. The English opener reviewed, but to no avail, as ball tracking showed the delivery would have clipped the leg stump.
England currently stand at 18 for 2. They need 640 runs to complete their sweep of New Zealand.
