LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have agreed on a new window to hold the remaining matches of the tournament from May 17 to 25, following a pause due to the recent Pakistan-India tensions.
The PSL has four regular season games remaining, and another four playoff matches.
The suspended PSL matches will now take place in the third week of May. The grand final will take place on May 25.
Sources have that the PCB has proposed that matches resume from where they were interrupted — starting in Rawalpindi and concluding in Lahore. This is contrast to the PCB’s earlier decision to move the remaining matches to the United Arab Emirates.
However, some franchises have suggested that due to logistical challenges, it may be more feasible to hold the matches at a single venue.
A final decision on the venue is expected after consultation with the tournament’s broadcast production team.
Reports suggest that the PCB wants to complete all PSL matches before the start of the T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which is set to kick off later this month on 25 May.
In regards to foreign players, sources have stated that the PSL franchises will contact foreign players again after the schedule is released. If a player is unavailable, a foreign or local replacement will be included in the squad.
Stakeholders reportedly believe that delaying the tournament further despite the improved situation could damage the league’s reputation, and that completing the tournament will paint Pakistan in a positive light.

Remaining matches
Four matches remaining in the PSL’s regular season. The second ranked Karachi Kings will take on the fifth ranked Peshawar Zalmi, before they finish their group stage matches against the third ranked Islamabad United. The Zalmi will also play the fourth ranked Lahore Qalandars after their clash against the Kings. The last place Multan Sultans and the first place Quetta Gladiators will close out the regular season.
The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs. The first place and second place team will take each other on in the first qualifier, while the third place and fourth place teams will face off in the first eliminator. The loser of the first qualifier and the winner of the eliminator will take each other on in the second qualifier, the winner of which will advance to the finals, where they will face the winner of qualifier one.
