Saleema Imtiaz makes history as Pakistan’s first female umpire on ICC panel

LAHORE: In a historic achievement for Pakistan cricket, Saleema Imtiaz has been nominated to the ICC’s International Panel of Development Umpires, becoming the first Pakistani woman to receive this prestigious honour.
With this nomination, Imtiaz will now be eligible to officiate bilateral international series as well as ICC women’s events. Her first assignment will be umpiring in the upcoming T20 home series between Pakistan and South Africa Women.

Expressing her joy, Imtiaz said, “This is a proud moment not only for me but for the entire nation. I am grateful to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for providing me with such opportunities.”
She also shared hopes that her nomination would inspire more women to pursue umpiring in Pakistan, adding, “I hope this recognition motivates other women to follow this path.”
The PCB has also announced the list of match officials for the upcoming cricket season, with Saleema Imtiaz set to play a prominent role.
