LAHORE: Pakistan all-rounder and vice captain Shadab Khan has resumed gym training following his shoulder surgery in England.

The cricketer shared a video on his social media page, showing him performing various exercises at the gym.

He also thanked fans for their prayers and support during his recovery, saying the rehabilitation process is progressing well.

Shadab underwent surgery on his right shoulder on July 5 in England after aggravating the issue.

Due to the injury, he missed the Asia Cup, the tri-nation series, and Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies.

It is estimated that Shadab will require a minimum of three months to achieve full fitness, making a return before October improbable.

This time frame effectively sidelines him from the Asia Cup, which is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to announce a replacement for the T20 vice-captaincy.

ASIA CUP

Pakistan will kick off their Asia Cup campaign against Oman on September 12, followed by a high-profile clash against arch-rivals India on September 14 in Dubai.

This year’s Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format, serving as preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups. Group A consists of Pakistan, India, the UAE, and Oman, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.

The event begins on September 9 with Afghanistan taking on Hong Kong, and the final is scheduled for September 28. If both Pakistan and India reach the Super Four stage, fans could witness another encounter between the two sides on September 21.
