Sindh sports minister decries lack of representation in cricket

KARACHI: Sindh Sports Minister, Mohammad Bakhsh Mehr, decried the province’s lack of representation in international cricket.
The provincial minister highlighted the need for increased opportunities for local cricketers within the southern province. He started that they should be afforded the chance to compete on a global level, as well.

“Our leadership is committed to prioritising the interests of Sindh”, he said, while calling for better support for regional athletes.
Bakhsh announced that the national games were scheduled to be hosted in Sindh in February next year.
He expressed optimism that the event would highlight promising talent from the region. “This will be an opportunity for merging athletes to shine”.
Meanwhile, Bakhsk also addressed the issues posed by the conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This led to the a delay in the establishment of fair crop prices.
The minister stated that efforts were ‘underway’ to create a framework that would ensure farmers receive equitable compensation for their produce.
“We are working on a mechanism to secure reasonable prices for our farmers”, he said.

The sports minister was quick to jump on the provincial government’s response to the 2022 floods. He talked about the aid provided to victims.
Bakhsh claimed that the Sindh government played a ‘pivotal’ role in assisting flood victims.
