Skipper confident for high-stakes combat against India

While addressing the media ahead of the crucial match, Babar candidly admitted, “My performance in the World Cup has not been what it should be.” The Pakistani skipper, known for his stellar batting abilities, is determined to lead by example and elevate his game when it matters most. “I try to make minimum mistakes,” Babar stressed, emphasising the importance of maintaining composure under pressure.

Babar acknowledged the void left by the absence of Pakistani fans in the stadiums, saying, “If Pakistani fans were here, they would also come to the stadium.” He recognised the significance of the fans’ presence in such high-stakes encounters and expressed his eagerness to deliver a memorable performance on the pitch.

With high-scoring matches becoming a trend in the tournament, Babar noted the challenging environment for bowlers. “High scoring matches are happening, and bowlers have very little margin,” he commented. Nonetheless, the skipper emphasised that records are meant to be broken, hinting at Pakistan’s ambitions to excel in this marquee event.

Babar also underlined the significance of the toss, explaining, “Toss will be very important in the match against India.” He pointed out the advantage of underlights batting in the second innings and the importance of making the right decisions in a match of such magnitude.

When asked about the pressure surrounding the clash, Babar maintained, “We try not to take pressure.” He highlighted the team’s focus on staying in the present and not dwelling on past performances. “There is no room for mistakes in such important matches,” he added, acknowledging the gravity of the encounter.

Expressing unwavering confidence in the team’s abilities, Babar asserted, “We have trust in Shaheen Shah Afridi; he is a player of big-matches.” Babar’s faith in the fast bowler signifies the depth and talent within the Pakistani squad.
