WEB DESK: Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White recently addressed the prolonged absence of Conor McGregor from the fighting arena during an interview.
McGregor, a prominent figure in mixed martial arts (MMA), has not participated in official matches since sustaining a significant leg injury in July 2021 during a bout with Dustin Poirier.
White attributed McGregor’s continued recovery from the injury as a primary reason for his extended hiatus from MMA. He drew comparisons with fellow fighters Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman who suffered similar challenges after sustaining injuries during fights.

The UFC president also pointed to McGregor’s financial stability as a significant factor in his delayed return. Unlike many fighters reliant solely on UFC earnings, McGregor’s financial independence allows him to explore other venues such as acting and business ventures.
Regarding McGregor’s eventual return, White remarked, “Only Conor knows [when he will return] These are questions for Conor McGregor, not me,” underlining the uncertainty surrounding McGregor’s readiness.
McGregor has a reported net worth of $180 million earned primarily from successful business ventures including his whiskey brand. McGregor is set to star in the upcoming film “Road House,” where he will portray an aggressive fighter alongside actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
A former UFC champion in both the featherweight and lightweight divisions, McGregor has also ventured into professional boxing, notably facing off against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr in a highly-publicised match.
