The news of the injury comes as a huge concern for the fans and the Indian cricket team, especially with the tournament just around the corner.

According to reports, Kohli sustained a neck injury that is now raising doubts about his participation in the initial matches of the Ranjit Trophy, India’s premiere domestic first-class cricket tournament.

The Ranjit Trophy is scheduled to begin on January 23, where Kohli was expected to play an important role for the Delhi team in their opening match against Saurashtra.

Sources from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) indicated that the Indian fan-favourite is experiencing severe pain due to a neck strain.

To manage the injury, Virat Kohli has reportedly received an injection aimed at alleviating the pain.

The injury is also a huge blow for the player as he was hoping to return to domestic cricket after a brief hiatus, and his fitness is critical for both, his state team and the national squad for the Champions Trophy.

Besides Kohli, the Indian national team with other key players having to sit out the tournament. Fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has also reportedly suffered an injury, putting the coveted asset’s participation in the prestigious tournament’s in question.
