WEB DESK: Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram has raised concerns about the commitment of players, indirectly criticising all-rounder Imad Wasim for prioritising T10 cricket over domestic tournaments.
Wasim Akram, while talking to the media, expressed reservations about players not actively participating in crucial events like the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy or the ongoing Pakistan Cup but aspiring to represent the national team.
While acknowledging that players engaged with the Pakistan team have their commitments, Akram questioned those who, despite not actively participating in domestic cricket, express a desire to play for the national side.
He remarked, “The players who are busy with the Pakistan team are fine but what about others? A couple of them are sitting on television and they want to play for Pakistan. How is that possible?”

Responding to queries about his absence from domestic cricket, Imad Wasim, a left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder, cited other commitments such as T10 cricket. He explained that these commitments prevent him from being available for tournaments like the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy or the ongoing Pakistan Cup.
It’s pertinent to note that Imad Wasim’s last appearance in the One Day International squad was against Zimbabwe in Rawalpindi in 2020. Over his ODI career, spanning 55 matches, he has scored 986 runs and taken 44 wickets. The discussion surrounding player priorities and commitments continues to be a topic of scrutiny within the cricketing community.
