ISLAMABAD: Albeit Pakistani cricket players are not listed among the top 10 highest wicket takers after the International Cricket Club (ICC) recently shared its ranks for T20I, the national team’s latest ODI winning against the West Indies sparks big hopes for the fans as Shaheen Shah Afridi piled highest wickets in minimum One-Day clashes on ground.

Pakistan in its opening ODI match of the series registered a remarkable victory over the West Indies on Saturday, chasing the rivals’ 280 target with a loss of just six wickets.

Fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah claimed four and three wickets respectively, with the former downing a pile of 131 batters from just 65 ODI matches since his career started.

Earlier, Afghanistan’s spinner Rashid Khan had this record who had gained 128 wickets in 65 clashes on ground. However, this record is now with the Pakistani right-hand bowler Afridi, following a spectacular performance during the ODI clash against West Indies today.

In the past too Pakistani cricketers were counted among the players of all times.

Waseem Akram

This magical all player had secured 502 wickets from a total of 356 international matches. His spectacular career remained between 1984-2003.

Waqar Younis

Fast bowler Waqar Younis had played a sum of 262  clashes, naming 416 in the ODI during his career on ground from 1989-2003.

Shahid Khan Afridi

All rounder Afridi had played 398 games on the pitch, obtaining 395 wickets during his times from 1996-2015.

Saqlain Mushtaq

Saqlain also remained to be magical spinner who continued his career from 1995-2003 , playing a total of 169  clashes, downing 288 rivals.                   

Abdur Razzaq

All rounder Abdur Razzaq who had been witnessed from 1996-2011  has also secured 269 from a total of 265 matches.

Shoaib Akhtar

The world fastest bowler Shoib Akhtar continued his playing on ground from 1998-2011, crushing a total of 247 in just 163 ODI matches.

Saeed Ajmal

The magical spinner, had played a total of 113 clashes on ground, claiming 184 from 2008-2015.

Imran Khan

Last but not least, fast bowler Imran Khan who was known for strongly playing under pressure, continued his cricketing career for just 175 matches, downing 182 wickets from 1974-1992. Also, he had captained the world cup team who successfully played and won it in 1992.
