World Championship of Legends: West Indies beat England

NORTHAMPTON: West Indies Champions secured a five-wicket victory over England Champions in the 12th match of the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2024, at the County Ground, Northampton, United Kingdom.
The victory over England places West Indies at four points from four matches in the tournament, positioning them well for a potential semifinal berth pending their upcoming match against Australia Champions.

England faced an early setback when wicketkeeper Phil Mustard was dismissed for a duck in the opening over. However, Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell stabilised the innings with a partnership of 73 runs.
Pietersen’s score of 42 runs off just 19 balls provided momentum for the English batting lineup. Meanwhile Bell, alongside Ravi Bopara, continued to build on the foundation. Their partnership yielded 118 runs, with Bopara contributing 53 runs.
Bell narrowly missed out on a century, finishing with 97 runs.
Samuel Badree, Jerome Taylor, Ashley Nurse, and Darren Sammy each claimed a wicket for the West Indies bowling attack.
England concluded their innings at 209 for a loss of five wickets after 20 overs.
Despite losing Chris Gayle in the very first over, West Indies maintained an aggressive batting approach throughout their innings.
Chadwick Walton smashed 85 runs off just 42 balls, including nine 4s and five 6s. Jason Mohammed contributed 34 off 24 balls, while Ashley Nurse netted 47 runs off 25 balls.

On the bowling front, England’s Samit Patel was the most effective. He clinched two wickets, while Ryan Jay Sidebottom, Ravi Bopara, and Usman Afzaal each took one wicket.
