Yasin Football League kicks off in Islamabad with thrilling matches

ISLAMABAD: The first-ever Yasin Football League, featuring eight teams from Yasin Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, kicked off in Islamabad on Sunday.
Silgan Gladiators, Taus Mehre Khun, Gojalti FC, Murka FC, Thoi FC, Sutanabad United, Baba e Yasin FC and Pride of Sandi are in the contest in Season 1 of the league, organised by the Yasin Mahraka, an organisation of professionals from Yasin Valley working on community development.
The opening ceremony featured speeches, team ownership signing ceremonies, and traditional musical performances.

Two matches were played on the first day, with Pride of Sandi facing Gojalti and Murka FC competing against Sultanabad United. Pride of Sandi and Sultanabad United stood victories with a 4-1 score each.
“We are thrilled to launch the Yasin Football League, which aims to promote football talent in Yasin Valley and provide a platform for our youth to showcase their skills,” said Peer Muhammad, Chairman of Yasin Mahraka. “This initiative is part of our efforts to support the development of our community and promote healthy activities among our youth.”
The Chairman also announced that this event will be held as a calendar event of Yasin Mahraka every year, giving opportunities to more players to showcase their talent. He also urged the teams to show sportsman spirit while playing the games, as the players were ambassadors of their community.
“The Yasin Football League is a great opportunity for our football players to gain exposure and experience, and we are committed to making this event a success,” added Shakil Ahmad, General Secretary of Yasin Mahraka.
The event saw a huge number of participants from Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral residing in the twin cities.
The next two matches are scheduled for February 5.
