This has led to mass starvation and humanitarian crisis. According to the Gaza Health Ministry and other sources, more than 60,000 Palestinians, including children, have been killed by the occupying force. Israeli military actions documented since October 2023 include heavy aerial bombardments on densely populated residential areas, hospitals, schools and United Nations shelters. Critical infrastructure such as water and electricity systems has been heavily damaged or destroyed, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been forcibly displaced, while an ongoing blockade restricts essential supplies including food, medicine and fuel. Israel has also been documented carrying out: Indiscriminate airstrikes causing mass civilian casualties across entire neighbourhoods Destruction of approximately 90 per cent of Gaza’s schools and universities through airstrikes, shelling and demolitions. Attacks on humanitarian aid distribution centres and shelters for internally displaced persons. The use of starvation as a method of warfare Forced evacuations aimed at removing Palestinians from their homes      Lack of distinction between military and civilians, breaching international law on proportionality and precautions Human rights organisations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, B’Tselem and United Nations special rapporteurs documented these actions as war crimes and crimes against humanity. The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, citing allegations of war crimes including the use of starvation tactics. In the past weeks, several European countries including the United Kingdom, France, and Malta formally recognised or announced plans to recognise Palestine. The announcements show an increasing tilt in global public perception of Israeli war crimes in the region. The Australian cricketer stated that change starts with “small steps” but requires ongoing effort to shift narratives and expand recognition worldwide.
