WEB DESK: ChatGPT, the popular language model developed by OpenAI, is currently experiencing an outage in multiple countries, including Pakistan. Users have reported encountering errors, with prompts not functioning and chat history remaining inaccessible.
The disruption began after 7 PM local time in Pakistan, and despite more than three hours passing, the issue remains unresolved.
OpenAI acknowledged the problem approximately two hours ago, stating that they are actively investigating the issue. However, the root cause behind this outage has not been disclosed.
Notably, this marks the second instance of ChatGPT facing downtime within the past 48 hours. On OpenAI’s official website, a notice indicates that the service is down for “some” users while investigations continue.
Down Detector, a platform that monitors website downtime, has recorded a significant increase in user reports following the outage. Meanwhile, in a previous incident back in November 2023, OpenAI provided more clarity, attributing the problems to “periodic outages due to an abnormal traffic pattern reflective of a DDoS attack.”
The impact extends beyond Pakistan, with a substantial number of reports coming from users in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Many individuals have expressed frustration at being unable to access the ChatGPT service via both the web and mobile app.
