Apple’s first foldable iPad delayed, release now expected in 2026

WEB DESK: Apple’s anticipated debut of its first foldable device might face delays beyond the previously expected 2025 timeline, according to new insights from Haitong analyst Jeff Pu.

In a recent investor note obtained by MacRumors, Pu indicated that while he maintains his outlook on the enhanced capabilities of upcoming Apple products, such as the iPhone 17 and advancements in Apple Intelligence, there have been some setbacks with the foldable iPad.

These setbacks, described as “pushouts,” suggest that the expected release date for Apple’s foldable device may be pushed further into the future. This delay could stem from issues in development, manufacturing, or strategic decisions by the company.

Previously, in a May report, Pu had projected that Apple’s first foldable devices would enter mass production between 2025 and 2026, based on emerging signs within Apple’s supply chain.

At that time, he anticipated the release of a large-screen foldable iPad or MacBook before a higher-volume foldable iPhone would appear in late 2026.

Initially, Pu had forecast that a foldable device with a 20.3-inch display would begin production by late 2025.

However, he now believes that Apple might not enter the foldable market until the second quarter of 2026, citing concerns over display durability as the primary reason for the delay.
