Pixel 10 Pro prototype leak reveals new chip, 16GB RAM and Android 16

Pixel 9 Pro

WEB DESK: It looks like Google is getting ready to launch its Pixel 10 series on August 13, and there’s already a buzz building around what’s coming. The biggest upgrade? A brand-new chip under the hood that Google has built completely on its own.

Called the Tensor G5, this chip is a big step away from the older ones that were based on Samsung’s designs. This time, Google has gone back to the drawing board and created something from scratch, giving it more control and the freedom to add unique features that could make the Pixel 10 stand out from other Android phones, and even earlier Pixel models.

What’s more, the chip isn’t just new in design. It will also be made by TSMC, the same high-end chipmaker Apple uses, using more advanced 3nm process. That means we can likely expect better performance and battery life compared to previous versions.

A recent leak on social media gave us a peek at what might be a Pixel 10 Pro prototype. The device, still in testing, showed off the new chip (codenamed “Blazer”) and some early specs, including 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a version of Android 16. It looks like the 5G modem is the same one used in the Pixel 9, so not everything’s changing, but most of the attention is on what’s new.

Design-wise, there are a few subtle but noticeable tweaks. The rear camera bar now reaches closer to the edges, the metal frame looks slimmer, and the SIM card tray has moved to the top left edge. It’s a small detail, but one fans might notice.

With the launch possibly just weeks away, the Pixel 10 is shaping up to be one of the most interesting releases of the year for Android lovers.
