Apple’s iOS 18 likely to feature redesigned, customisable Control Centre

WEB DESK: Apple may be on the brink of introducing a revamped version of the Control Centre in iOS 18, as per insights gathered from various sources closely associated with the matter. However, the finalisation of this alteration for the forthcoming update is yet to be confirmed.

Reports suggest that the prospective Control Centre is set to offer a customisable layout, allowing users to tailor the arrangement of controls to their preferences. A notable feature of this redesign would be the implementation of a drag-and-drop system, enabling users to directly reorganise certain controls on the interface.

Presently, only a limited number of controls located in the lower portion of the Control Centre, such as those for flashlight and Low Power Mode, can be repositioned or eliminated through the Settings app.

If Apple proceeds with this initiative, it would mark the most significant overhaul of the Control Centre since its debut with iOS 11 back in 2017.

On devices from iPhone X onwards, users can access the Control Centre by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen, granting quick access to essential functions like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, display brightness, and volume adjustment, among others.

The unveiling of iOS 18, and consequently, the potential introduction of the redesigned Control Centre, is slated to take place imminently. Apple is scheduled to reveal iOS 18 during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote on June 10.

Following the keynote address, it is anticipated that the first beta version of iOS 18 will be promptly accessible to members of the Apple Developer Program. Subsequently, the wider release of the update is expected to occur in September.
