iOS 18 will notify you of ‘slow charging’ with non-original chargers

iOS 18 slow charging

WEB DESK: Apple has started rolling out iOS 18 for everyone, and it brings some exciting new features. This update is available for iPhone users in Pakistan as well.

Among the standout features is a redesigned Home Screen with new customisation options and an upgraded Photos app.

One of the most useful features is a warning system for slow charging. If your iPhone is charging slowly—especially if you’re not using an original Apple fast charger—the phone will let you know.

This could be really handy if you’ve just bought a new charger and want to check if it’s working up to Apple’s standards.

In addition, Apple has made changes to the battery health and charging settings. If you have an iPhone 15, you’ll see new options in the Battery section of your Settings app.

While Apple previously allowed users to set an 80 per cent charge limit, iOS 18 adds options to stop charging at 85 per cent, 90 per cent, or 95 per cent. If your charger is slow, you’ll get a warning message on the updated Battery Level graph, which now shows slow charging in orange.

Though it’s not clear what specific speed triggers the “Slow Charger” message, it’s still helpful to have this feature for reference.

Overall, iOS 18 is Apple’s most customizable software update yet, allowing users to personalize their Home Screens more than ever. You can now freely arrange app icons and widgets, leave empty spaces on your screen, and even choose colours or switch to a new dark mode for app icons and widgets.

If you prefer larger icons, iOS 18 offers an option to make them bigger while hiding their names.

To update to iOS 18, head to the Settings app, select “General,” and then “Software Update.” If the update doesn’t appear immediately, check back later. Once the update is installed, your iPhone will restart and guide you through the new features.

iOS 18 works with all iPhones that supported iOS 17, so if your phone could run iOS 17, it can be updated to iOS 18. The full list of compatible iPhones includes:
