WEB DESK: Apple’s upcoming iOS 19 update is expected to bring significant changes, but not every iPhone will be able to run it. According to a reliable source on social media platform X, iOS 19 will not be available for the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, or iPhone XS Max.
These devices, powered by the A12 Bionic chip, will reportedly lose software support with the new update. However, all other iPhones that currently run iOS 18 are expected to support iOS 19.
The full list of compatible devices includes:
iPhone 16 series: iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max
iPhone 15 series: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max
iPhone 14 series: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max
iPhone 13 series: iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
iPhone 12 series: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
iPhone 11 series: iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)
Although these devices will receive iOS 19, some advanced features may be exclusive to newer models with faster processors. For instance, Apple Intelligence, introduced with iOS 18, is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models.
On the iPad side, iPadOS 19 is expected to drop support for the seventh-generation iPad, which runs on the A10 Fusion chip. However, iPads with the A12 Bionic chip, such as the iPad mini 5, are expected to remain compatible.
Apple is set to unveil iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9. More details, including new features and improvements, will likely be revealed during the event.
