Leaked images hint at vertical camera setup for iPhone 16

iPhone 16 camera design

WEB DESK: A recent leak on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has unveiled what appears to be protective cases made for the upcoming iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus models.

The design of these cases notably mirrors the camera layout seen on the iPhone X and the base model of the iPhone 11.

Speculation surrounding the iPhone 16 models has been rife, particularly regarding the configuration of their cameras.

Previous rumors hinted at a potential shift towards a vertical camera setup for the non-pro iPhone 16 variants.

The emergence of these leaked cases, seemingly designed for the standard iPhone 16 models, lends credence to the possibility of such an arrangement.

The rationale behind considering a vertical camera layout for the iPhone 16 stems from recent technological advancements.

Notably, the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the latest Apple Vision Pro feature a video capability known as “spatial video,” which necessitates a vertical alignment of the main and wide-angle lenses.

While these pro models sport the requisite vertical lens configuration, the current non-pro iPhone lineup does not.

Although the official camera configuration for the standard iPhone 16 models remains unconfirmed, indications suggest that a diagonal arrangement, as seen in previous generations, may not support the “spatial video” feature.

Apple has reportedly been experimenting with various vertical camera setups for the standard models, with the latest prototype showcasing dual camera rings within a “pill-shaped” module.

Beyond the camera enhancements, speculation also surrounds additional features for the standard iPhone 16 models.

There are suggestions of an Action Button akin to the iPhone 15 Pro series, alongside rumors of a dedicated capture button that could offer enhanced camera controls during horizontal shooting.

However, it’s essential to approach these revelations with caution, as the leaked cases and prototype designs are subject to change before the final product release.
