WEB DESK: In a significant development for Apple’s MacBook lineup, the tech giant is reportedly working on a new model featuring a foldable screen.

This follows a recent statement by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who mentioned that a MacBook with either an 18.8-inch or 20.2-inch foldable display is expected to launch in 2026.

Display industry expert Ross Young, in a post on social media platform X, has confirmed these reports but provided additional specifics.

Young, addressing his subscribers, stated that the device is likely to be equipped with an 18.76-inch screen instead of the initially speculated 20.25-inch, citing cost considerations as the primary reason for this adjustment.

When folded, Kuo noted, the 18.8-inch MacBook would be comparable in size to a traditional 13-inch or 14-inch MacBook. The foldable design is anticipated to feature an all-screen layout with a virtual keyboard, although detailed design elements remain speculative at this stage.

Kuo also highlighted Apple’s aim to produce a foldable screen with minimal creasing, a feature that could drive the price close to that of the Vision Pro headset, which starts at $3,499. Additionally, the foldable MacBook is expected to incorporate Apple’s next-generation M5 chip, which is yet to be officially announced.

As of now, the foldable-screen MacBook appears to be several years away from release, with Apple likely to refine its plans as the anticipated 2026 launch approaches.
