Mobile phone manufacturing plant to be established in Punjab soon


LAHORE: The Provincial Minister of Industry and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain, announced the establishment of a mobile phone manufacturing plant in Punjab following his recent visit to China.

The provincial minister laid the foundation stone for the facility at the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company.

Production on the mobile phone manufacturing plant in Punjab is reportedly set to being in two years.

Hussain stated that the move from the assembly to manufacturing by a Chinese company is expected to lower mobile phone prices in Pakistan.

He detailed how this was important for the development of the local economy. The minister also noted that it will create jobs and foster technological growth.

The minister also detailed Punjab’s appeal to both, domestic and international investors. He reported a spoke in interest from foreign companies, particularly from China, looking to invest in the country’s most populous province.

The government is also reportedly offering attractive incentives and infrastructure improvements to facilitate foreign direct investment, which is projected to reach billions of rupees ‘soon’.

The mobile manufacturing initiative aligns with the province’s broader strategy to improve its industrial capabilities and attract investment.
