WEB DESK: Apple has released the first beta of iOS 18.5 for developers, marking one of the final updates in the iOS 18 series before the anticipated launch of iOS 19 in the coming months.
While this update does not introduce major changes, it brings a few refinements aimed at improving user experience.
One of the notable tweaks is in the Mail app, where users can now toggle Contact Photos and Group By Sender more conveniently. Previously, these options were tucked away in the Settings app, requiring multiple steps to access.
With iOS 18.5, Apple has placed them directly within the Mail app under the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner, making it easier for users to personalise their inbox.
Another subtle but useful update can be found in the AppleCare and Warranty section within Settings. A new banner featuring the AppleCare logo has been added, offering a quick way to learn more about coverage options.
Additionally, in the Apple Account section, tapping on a registered device now reveals a new AppleCare option, where users can view coverage details and manage their plans seamlessly.
Based on previous trends, Apple is expected to roll out the final version of iOS 18.5 to the public in May, likely in the second week of the month. This follows the company’s pattern of releasing its x.5 updates around the same period in past years.
As Apple continues refining iOS 18, the focus is gradually shifting towards iOS 19, which is expected to bring more significant changes. Developers and beta testers can explore the latest update, and any new features discovered in subsequent beta releases may further enhance the user experience.
