LAHORE: Oppo is gearing up to make a comeback in Pakistan’s crowded smartphone market with the launch of its new A6 Pro series, which is expected to launch on September 26.

The company has already teased the device through its official social media pages and YouTube channel in Pakistan, signalling that the launch is just around the corner.

An attempt to regain lost ground

Once a popular choice among Pakistani buyers, Oppo has struggled in recent years to maintain its foothold as brands like Xiaomi, Infinix, Tecno and Vivo offered better specifications at more competitive prices.

“Oppo used to be known for its cameras, but now the phones are costly and sometimes lack features like AMOLED displays even in the Rs50,000 range,” said Noman Tareen, a Lahore-based lawyer and long-time Oppo user. “Other brands are giving more value, so naturally people shifted away.”

Industry observers note that the A6 Pro may be Oppo’s chance to claw back relevance, provided it launches at a reasonable price.

Features and specifications

The Oppo A6 Pro comes with a 6.57-inch AMOLED display boasting a Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and vivid colour reproduction. The screen-to-body ratio is an impressive 93 percent, giving the phone a premium look.

A standout feature is the massive 7000mAh battery, paired with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging support, promising long usage times and quick top-ups. For performance, the phone is powered by an octa-core processor, with options of up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

On the camera side, the rear setup is led by a 50MP main sensor, backed by AI-driven shooting modes. The front has a 16MP lens for selfies and video calls, with modes including portrait, night, panorama and dual-view video.

The device also supports 5G connectivity, NFC, and comes with ColorOS 15.0 out of the box. In terms of design, buyers can expect four colour options: Lunar Titanium, Stellar Blue, Rosewood Red and Coral Pink.

Although Oppo has not confirmed the price, analysts expect the A6 Pro to fall between Rs58,000 and Rs65,000, with the 5G model priced slightly higher in the Rs70,000 to Rs85,000 range.

If these estimates hold true, the new series will directly compete with mid-range smartphones such as the Redmi Note series, Samsung Galaxy A-series and Realme devices, all of which have gained traction in Pakistan.

Can Oppo bounce back?

The local smartphone market has become more diverse, with buyers spoilt for choice. Oppo, once known for its stylish designs and strong selfie cameras, will need to offer more than nostalgia to regain users.

The A6 Pro’s mix of a large battery, fast charging, AMOLED display and 5G readiness may attract younger buyers looking for power-packed performance without breaking the bank.

But whether this phone can help Oppo reclaim its lost market share will depend heavily on how aggressively it is priced.
