WEB DESK: PUBG Mobile, one of the world’s biggest battle royale sensations, has rolled out Version 4.0 update, and it is already making waves across Android and iOS players.
With nearly 4GB of new content to download from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, the update is packed with themed modes, spooky events, and gameplay upgrades designed to keep both casual and competitive fans hooked.

A ghostly twist on familiar maps
The headline feature this season is the Spooky Soiree, a Halloween-inspired theme running through maps like Erangel, Livik, and Rondo until November 4. PUBG Players can now summon Ghostie, a personal ghost companion with customisable skills, including Floating Balloon, Guardian Shield, Heal, and more. Eliminated players don’t just sit out either, they return as Prankster Ghosts with disruptive tricks like bombs and scans to keep matches lively.
Adding to the haunting atmosphere, Erangel and Livik now feature Wraithmoor Mansion, a haunted estate filled with mirrors, spectral NPCs, and loot surprises. Players may stumble across Scaredy Ghosts, objects disguised as phantoms that drop supplies once revealed. There’s even a Performing Dead concert stage, complete with spectral rock music and hidden rewards.
The PUBG 4.0 update also introduces quirky transport like the Magic Broom, a flying vehicle for two, alongside Haunted Sight, a feature that spices up aiming with spooky animations.
Seasonal treats and special checkpoints
PUBG Mobile isn’t stopping at scares. The 4.0 update also layers in cultural festivities with the Moonlight Festival Checkpoint, where players can restore health with Mid-Autumn Mooncakes, and the Day of Gathering Checkpoint, which offers Chocolate buffs and seasonal décor. These checkpoints bring both healing items and a festive flair to ongoing matches.
Bigger push for creators
Version 4.0 also sees the full rollout of World of Wonder 1.0, PUBG’s dedicated creator platform. To encourage fresh content, Tencent is setting aside a massive $10 million prize pool, with top creators eligible for payouts of up to $200,000. A new WOW Pass also adds free and premium rewards, while part of the revenue will funnel back into incentives for budding designers.
Classic mode and Metro Royale upgrades
Competitive players can dive into Metro Royale Chapter 28, which now includes Solo 1v1 duels, Ghost Crates, and a Weekend Market for rare trades. Meanwhile, Classic Mode introduces new weapons like the Mortar, more realistic reloading mechanics, and refined animations for pistols. Even Erangel’s Lipovka gets a makeover with swings and a Ferris wheel, giving players a breather between firefights.
On the home front, a Lunar Castle Home Style joins the Craftsman’s Pass, while new Treasure Hunt and Parking Lot features let users customise spaces, show off vehicles, and earn rewards.
Kaiju chaos and ranked rewards
If ghosts weren’t enough, September brings Kaiju-themed battles with larger-than-life transformations, themed gear, and even cinematic glider entries. The new UNFAIL mode, an asymmetrical five-player escape challenge, adds further variety.
Ranked grinders will find fresh motivation with Cycle 9 Season 26, which introduces legendary rewards and the Firearm Combat Power system to showcase weapon mastery. High-rank players can also unlock Path of Glory honours, including exclusive titles and start-of-match animations.
A packed update for all kinds of players
Weighing in at 3.93GB on iOS, PUBG Mobile’s Version 4.0 update might take some space, but it offers plenty in return. From seasonal ghost hunts to Kaiju chaos, creator incentives to smoother gunplay, it is one of the most content-rich updates the game has seen in years, and a reminder of why PUBG Mobile continues to dominate in Pakistan and beyond.
