WEB DESK: TikTok has taken down millions of videos in Pakistan for breaching its community guidelines. The video sharing platform removed videos containing sensitive content, including nudity, harassment, suicide triggers, and misinformation.

Interestingly, some of these videos gained significant popularity but were promptly removed once TikTok became aware of them. 

In its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the second quarter of 2023 (April–June), TikTok disclosed that 106,476,032 videos were removed globally. This accounts for roughly 0.7 per cent of all videos uploaded on TikTok during that period. 

Out of these, 66,440,775 videos were removed through automated systems, with 6,750,002 videos later being restored after review. 

Pakistan’s Community Guidelines violations 

In Pakistan, 14,141,581 videos were removed for violating Community Guidelines in the second quarter of 2023. Additionally, TikTok actively targeted spam accounts and related content while taking measures to prevent automated spam accounts. 

During this period, 83.6 per cent of the violating videos in Pakistan were removed before anyone could view them, and approximately 92.5 per cent of such videos were eliminated within a day. The proactive removal rate for this quarter was an impressive 98.6 per cent. 

Safety measures for young users 

Globally, TikTok also removed 18,823,040 accounts suspected to belong to users under the age of 13, emphasising the safety of young users. 

TikTok employs a combination of advanced technology and human review to identify, evaluate, and take action against content that breaches its Community Guidelines.
