TikTok takes action against 18.5 million videos in Pakistan over the last quarter

KARACHI: TikTok took action against over 18.5 million videos in Pakistan during the last quarter of 2023 for violating its community guidelines.

In a press release, TikTok emphasized its commitment to effectively combatting violations by addressing 18,596,077 videos in the fourth quarter. The platform particularly targeted spam accounts and associated content, implementing stringent measures to curb their proliferation.

TikTok disclosed its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q4 2023, showcasing its dedication to fostering a secure online environment and ensuring user trust.

Throughout October to December 2023, TikTok’s proactive measures resulted in the removal of 176,461,963 videos globally, amounting to approximately 1.0% of all platform uploads. Of these, 128,300,584 videos were identified and removed using automated detection technologies, while 8,038,106 videos were reinstated following further review.

Noteworthy is that 95.3 per cent of guideline-violating videos were removed within 24 hours of posting, with an impressive global proactive removal rate of 99.5% for the quarter. Additionally, in an effort to protect younger users, TikTok deleted 19,848,855 accounts suspected of belonging to individuals under the age of 13, as stated in the press release.
