iPhone 16 Pro models expected to feature Wi-Fi 7 technology

WEB DESK: Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are anticipated to feature Wi-Fi 7 support, as reported by Taiwanese supply chain publication DigiTimes.

The integration of Wi-Fi 7 would enable these new devices to utilise the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequency bands simultaneously. This upgrade is expected to deliver significantly improved performance, including faster data transfer speeds, reduced latency, and more dependable connectivity.

Wi-Fi 7 is projected to achieve peak theoretical speeds of over 40 Gbps, which represents a fourfold increase compared to the maximum speeds of Wi-Fi 6E.

Earlier predictions by supply chain analyst Jeff Pu had also suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro models would include Wi-Fi 7 support. The new iPhones are slated for release in September.

In comparison, the current iPhone 15 Pro models support Wi-Fi 6E, while iPhone 11 through iPhone 14 models are compatible with standard Wi-Fi 6.
