2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy begins Pakistan tour today


The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup trophy will embark on a tour of Pakistan from today, visiting Islamabad, Abbottabad and Lahore.

LAHORE: The 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy will embark on a tour of Pakistan from Thursday (today).

The trophy’s journey will commence from Islamabad on Thursday night, followed by visits to Abbottabad and Lahore.

The trophy will leave the nation’s capital and will head to Abbottabad in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). It will then proceed to Lahore, where it will be showcased at the National Cricket Academy at 4:30 pm.

The trophy’s journey will culminate just before the Pakistan and New Zealand T20 match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

This event shows Pakistan’s commitment to hosting international sporting competitions within the country.

Meanwhile, the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled from June 2 till June 29. The tournament will take place in the United States (US) and the West Indies.

The world cup will be the ninth iteration of the tournament and is organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). This will be the first time a cricket tournament will be played in the United States.

This time, a record 20 teams will compete in the world cup and includes the two hosts. The 20 teams were selected from the top eight teams from the 2022 world cup, the next two teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team rankings, and eight teams were determined by the regional qualifiers.

Canada and Uganda will make their debut appearances, while the United States will participate for the first time as a co-host.
