ECP asks Fawad to tender written apology for contempt

Fawad Chaudhary

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has asked former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Fawad Chaudhry to submit a written apology in the contempt case on Thursday.

A four-member ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja conducted proceedings into the case.

Fawad Chaudhry appeared in person along with his counsel and clarified that he had no personal issue with the CEC and had issued the remarks in line with his responsibilities as a spokesperson for his former party.

CEC Raja said that his comments were derogatory and told Chaudhry to submit a written apology by August 1.
