PESHAWAR: A chaotic scene unfolded in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly as government and opposition members scuffled, exchanging kicks and punches during a heated session.
The trouble began when a verbal spat between members escalated into a physical confrontation.
The session, chaired by the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, took a turn for the worse following an address by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
During his speech, Gandapur talked about his recent journey from Islamabad to Peshawar, which triggered criticism from opposition members.
The opposition had requested time to speak from the speaker, but when their request was denied, tensions boiled over, leading to a bitter exchange of words and eventually a fistfight.
The two members involved in the altercation were reportedly from North Waziristan.

The opposition questioned why the chief minister was given time to speak, while they were denied the same opportunity.
Awami National Party’s Nisar Baz voiced his frustration, stating, “I will explain my party’s position, but our decency should not be taken for granted. Why was the agenda suspended?”
Provincial ministers reached out to the opposition members, appearing to woo them amidst the chaos.
The speaker was forced to adjourn the meeting for 15 minutes in an attempt to restore order.
