Investigation launched against ASI

SADIQABAD: The Punjab Police launched an investigation on Monday against an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) accused of slapping a woman cyclist from Iran in Sadiqabad.

The incident occurred during a dispute between the local police and three foreign cyclists, two men and a woman.

According to the local police, three foreign cyclists entered Sadiqabad from Sindh. They were reportedly denied access to a dangerous area which angered the foreigners and lead to the confrontation.

As per police statement, the ASI allegedly retaliated after the woman cyclist slapped him.

The tourists later complained about police behaviour, prompting intervention by the local Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) and Assistant Commissioner (AC) who helped resolve the matter.

The police stated that action will be taken against the ASI once the investigation is completed.
