WEB DESK: In the midst of ongoing controversies surrounding hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, singer Kesha made headlines by modifying the lyrics of her hit song “Tik Tok” during a surprise appearance at Coachella.

According to reports, Kesha’s performance alongside Reneé Rapp at Coachella took a confrontational turn as she altered the opening lyrics of “Tik Tok” to “wake up in the morning like […] P Diddy” accompanied by a defiant gesture.

The 2010 song is known for its original lyrics referencing Combs and has been reinterpreted by Kesha amidst the backdrop of recent legal and public scrutiny surrounding the music mogul.

The change in lyrics marks Kesha’s public disassociation from Combs, reflecting a broader sentiment of discontent and condemnation against him. This sentiment is amplified by recent events, including federal raids on Combs’ properties and a series of lawsuits, including allegations of sex trafficking and violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act (RICO).

The alteration of the song’s lyrics is not an isolated incident. Previous instances include Kesha’s performance previously during which she entirely omitted Combs’ name from the lyrics, replacing it with “feeling just like me.” This shift in tone coincided with settlements in lawsuits involving other individuals, such as singer Cassie Ventura, who accused Combs of physical and sexual abuse.

Kesha debuted as a singer in 2005 when she inked a deal with Kemosabe Records at 18 years old. She became a notable figure in the music realm as a vocalist and composer in early 2009 with her feature on rapper Flo Rida’s track “Right Round”.

The American singer would go on to attain significant success, including two albums peaking at number one on the “US Billboard 200” music chart with “Animal” in 2010 and “Rainbow” in 2017.
