KP declares education emergency

PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has announced an education emergency in the province and introduced the Education Card initiative to support students in nine districts.

The program is set to benefit around 40,000 children in districts including Kohistan, Kolai Palas, Torghar, Chitral, Tank, and South Waziristan.

Under the scheme, students enrolling in government schools will receive a monthly stipend of Rs.1000.

Female students will be provided Rs.500 monthly scholarships to encourage their education.

Additionally, more than 550,000 students will benefit from the monthly educational stipends. The Education Card will also offer scholarships to 506 talented students through the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA).

The move aims to improve access to education in the province’s underdeveloped and remote areas, addressing long-standing challenges in the region.
