May 9 riots: Asad Qaiser re-arrested

ISLAMABAD: Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, recently granted bail by a sessions court, faced a fresh arrest on Saturday in connection with a new case registered in Mardan district.

The Mardan District and Sessions Courts Judge, Mohammad Zaib, had granted bail to Asad Qaiser in the May 9 case against surety bonds worth Rs100,000. However, immediately following his release from central prison, the police re-arrested Mr. Qaiser, citing his suspected involvement in an attack on a store.
