Pervez Elahi Case: Warrants issued for IG Islamabad, Attock Jail Superintendent

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Monday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad and a bailable arrest warrant for the Superintendent of Attock Jail for failing to comply with a court order to release PTI President Pervez Elahi.

During a hearing at the Lahore High Court regarding the non-compliance with the court order to release Pervez Elahi, the court inquired about the whereabouts of the IG Islamabad. The government’s legal representative stated that a response had been received from the IG Islamabad.

The court expressed its dissatisfaction with the response and reminded the government lawyer that they had summoned the IG Islamabad, emphasizing that court orders should not be taken lightly. Subsequently, the court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for the IG, and the Superintendent of Police (SP) was charged with contempt of court for failing to execute the bailable warrant.

Additionally, the court expressed its disappointment at the absence of the Superintendent of Attock Jail and issued a bailable arrest warrant for the superintendent.
