Pindi man jailed for sharing objectionable pictures of ex-wife


RAWALPINDI: A Rawalpindi court has handed a four-year prison sentence to Hameedullah, who was found guilty of sharing inappropriate pictures of his ex-wife on social media.

According to ARY News, the additional district and session judge delivered the verdict and also directed the offender to pay Rs200,000 in compensation.

Hameedullah allegedly leaked indecent pictures of his former spouse on social media. As per the details, the man demanded Rs5.5 million in extortion, and when refused, he made the images viral online.

The FIA Cyber Crimes Cell initiated a case against Hameedullah on February 3, 2021.

Separately, in a shocking revelation, the Human Rights Committee (HRC) has disclosed that 268 women fell victim to gang rape in Punjab over the past four years.

According to the HRC convener, Dr Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, a report submitted by the National Commission Punjab provided data on the incidents of violence against women in the region.

In a horrifying trend, a total of 3,914 women were raped, and 1,026 lost their lives due to gender-based discrimination during the same four-year period.
