Punjab: 169 new dengue cases reported in a day

LAHORE: Punjab grapples with an ongoing surge in dengue fever, marking 169 new cases reported on Friday alone. As per the latest data from the Health Department, the total count of confirmed dengue cases in Punjab this year has reached 9,862.
The city of Lahore bears the brunt of this concerning escalation, tallying a staggering 4,215 cases. It’s closely trailed by Rawalpindi with 2,318 cases, Multan with 1,001, Faisalabad with 446, and Gujranwala with 831 reported cases. The situation remains critical, with Lahore recording an additional 90 new cases, Rawalpindi 16, Multan 17, Gujranwala 26, and Faisalabad nine. Moreover, Sheikhupura reported three cases, while Kasur documented two new instances in the same period.
In the last 24 hours, Attock, Sialkot, Lodhran, Pakpattan, Khushab, and Vehari each reported one case. Presently, 148 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across Punjab, with 68 of them hospitalized in Lahore district hospitals.
Secretary of Health Punjab, Ali Jaan Khan, has emphasized the importance of maintaining clean and dry surroundings as a preventive measure against dengue fever. He urges cooperation with the Health Department teams, tirelessly engaged in combating this outbreak.
