LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Ehsan Afzal may have to give up his National Assembly (NA-110) Faisalabad seat for PTI disgruntled leader, Opposition Leader Raja Riaz.
In the 2018 elections, Raja Riaz secured the National Assembly seat under the PTI banner, defeating Rana Afzal Khan, Ehsan Afzal’s father. Notably, Raja Riaz had openly expressed his interest in obtaining a PML-N ticket during a televised program.
Local PML-N leaders are increasingly certain that Raja Riaz will secure the party’s NA ticket for Faisalabad. This anticipated decision has led to discussions regarding Rana Ehsan Afzal’s potential shift to a seat in the Punjab Assembly, aligning with Raja Riaz’s domain.

Addressing rumors within the PML-N regarding a possible assignment to the Punjab Assembly, the youthful Ehsan emphasized his commitment to respecting and upholding the party’s determinations, as reported by The Express Tribune.
In the previous election, Raja Riaz clinched victory against the late Rana Afzal by a margin of approximately 5 percent. Observers suggest that, in this upcoming election, Raja Riaz’s electoral support could expand due to his established voter base, in addition to PML-N’s backing.
Conversely, the Afzal Khan family has long been recognized for their unwavering allegiance to the party. Local leaders also laud the late Raja Ejaz’s integrity, a trait they regard as increasingly uncommon in contemporary politics.
Rana Ehsan Afzal Khan asserted that his dedicated efforts over the years have been aimed at both his constituency and the party. He argued that his contributions merit consideration for the National Assembly ticket. While acknowledging speculation surrounding his political future, he revealed that no official communication had reached him regarding this matter.
Ehsan Afzal expressed his intention to present his case before the party’s leadership to secure the NA ticket. He stressed his right to voice his perspective within the party hierarchy, noting minimal disparities between the opposing views.
