Shibli Faraz granted interim bail in D-chowk protest cases

Shibli Faraz

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shibli Faraz in five separate cases in line with the D-Chowk November protest. Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain presided over the hearing on Monday.

The court approved Faraz’s interim bail applications until January 17, 2025 setting surety bonds at five thousand rupees for each case. The cases against the PTI leader were registered across multiple police stations in Islamabad, including Margalla, Tarnol, and Abpara police stations, with two additional cases filed at Kohsar police station.

Faraz had approached the ATC seeking interim bail in connection with cases stemming from the D-Chowk protest. The court’s decision provides temporary relief to the PTI leader as legal proceedings continue.

The multiple cases filed across different jurisdictions in Islamabad highlight the broader legal challenges facing PTI leadership in relation to the D-Chowk protest incident. The interim bail will prevent arrest in these cases until the specified date, allowing for further legal proceedings to take place.

Khadija Shah files petition to obtain details of cases

Seeking detailed information about all the cases that have been registered against her, designer and PTI supporter, Khadija Shah has filed a petition. She has requested that the court to order all relevant parties to provide her with a comprehensive list of cases, especially those related to the May 9 incidents.

In her petition, Shah mentioned that she was previously arrested and jailed in connection with the May 9th cases but was later granted bail. However, she claims to have received information from reliable sources suggesting that she may be involved in other undisclosed cases.

To protect herself from potential harassment and further legal troubles, Shah has requested that the court issue orders to prevent her arrest and allow her to approach the relevant courts for legal remedies. Her request further stressed that the court restrain all parties from harassing her or her family.

The petition has been filed against the Secretary of Interior, the Inspector General of Police, and the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
