79th UN General Assembly: Pakistan to address Palestine, Kashmir, climate change


The Pakistani delegation at the 79th UN General Assembly session will address key issues, incldjuing Palestine, Kashmir and climate change.

NEW YORK: The Pakistan delegation at the United Nations’ (UN) 79th General Assembly session will address key issues, incldjuing Kashmir and climate change on Tuesday.

The Pakistan delegation headed for the 79th UN General Assembly consisted of Information Minister Atta Tarar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asid, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

Atta Tarar will engage with media representatives to share Pakistan’s perspective on various international issues. He intends to address issues related to Palestine, Kashmir, climate change and terrorism dueing the assembly discussions.

Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif focused on Pakistan’s security challenges and regional conflicts. He hoighlgihted the connection between political stability and economic health, asserting that progress  ‘has begun” and is “unstoppable”.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui will outline Pakistan’s approach to the energy crisis plaguing the country and suggest possible solutions,

The Pakistani delegation visit include several important meeting, including interacting with the Pakistan-American community – healthcare professionals, bankers and media.

Tarar noted that the current foreign policy represents a shift from the isolationist approach adopted after  2018, which had ‘strained’ relations with key partners including China, the Middle East and the Western world.

He expressed confidence in the current state of Pakistanis foreign relations, stating that the foreign policy is now more ‘favourable’. Tarar also mentioned that discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reached a ‘positive conclusion’, indicating encouraging economic developments.

The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly provides a platform for member states to discuss pressing global issues.

This year’s session is particularly important as it brings together leaders to address Israel-Palestine conflict, along with Israeli brutality and war crimes extending to Lebanon, with many fearing an escalation of the conflict to the entire region.
