After Canada and Panama, Trump goes for Greenland next

Proposals from the Republican Party in the US Congress include a bill to purchase mineral-rich Greenland and repurchase the Panama Canal.

WASHINGTON: In a rather bizarre-yet-expected twist of international ambition, United States (US) President-elect, Donald Trump, once again turned his gaze towards another country to conquer – Greenland.

After throwing shade at Panama (threatening to take their land by force) and suggesting – quite seriously – that Canada was just itching to join their southern neighbour as its 51st state, our beloved orange tanned, reality media mogul turned politician has sets his eyes on Greenland.

It seems the former reality has a knack for real estate deals despite declaring bankruptcy six times!

Trump’s latest fixation on Greenland, the globe’s largest island, emerged as he introduced his choice for US ambassador to Denmark, Ken Howery, one of PayPal’s co-founders.

“For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity”, he confidently declare on Truth Social.

And while the world is very doubtful of Trump’s ‘truth’, it begs the question how well a Silicon Valley guy would do in the world of diplomacy.

This isn’t Trump’s first time laying claim to Greenland like a tsar. In 2019, the reality media star floated the idea of purchasing the territory for its abundant resources and strategic location.

Unamused, the Danish officials quickly put a stop to any castles being built in the US president’s mind. Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, certainly gave an icy response.

“Greenland is not for sale! Greenland is not Danish! Greenland belongs to Greenland!” It’s great to witness Danish leaders speaking on behalf of its territory!

But fear not, folks! Many more land claims still remain to be had. As Trump optimistically eyes the Panama Canal, indignant the US has to pay Panama for its use, he boldly stated. “This complete rip-off of our country will immediately stop”!

What will our beloved reality media star-businessman-politician want to claim next!
