GENEVA: Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V offered to mediate the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India on Saturday.
Prince Rahim has written letters to both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing concern over the rising tensions between the two countries.
“Like many others around the world, I am extremely concerned about the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan since the 22nd April attack in Kashmir,” Prince Rahim wrote. He goes on to recommend himself as a possible mediator, citing the fact that the Ismaili Imamat is a non-political institution with strong ties to both nations.
“It is my hope and prayer that a peaceful resolution to this conflict be rapidly achieved in order to limit loss of life and injury on both sides.”

Prince Rahim also informed both prime ministers that he has sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Gutterres, offering his support.
