Arab Parliament vow full support to Palestinian cause

CAIRO: The Arab Parliament (AP) on Saturday confirmed that the orgainisation will continue its diplomatic efforts in international forums to support the Palestinian cause.
According to the Asharq Al-Awaat, the speaker met with Mona Al-Khalili, the Palestinian Minister of Women’s Affairs, at the AP Secretariat General in Cairo.

During the meeting, the speaker confirmed intentions to continue communicating with regional and international parliaments, and inter-parliamentary unions to address the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestine.
The speaker restated the Arab parliament’s dedication to supporting, assisting, and standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights. This includes the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, as prescribed by international resolutions.
The Palestinian Minister updated the AP speaker on the current situation in Palestine, highlighting the specific hardships experienced by women in Gaza.
Al-Khalili lauded the Arab Parliament’s backing of Palestine across Arab, regional, and international domains.

The Arab Parliament is a part of the Arab League. It serves as the legislative body representing member states across the Arab world.
It was established during the 19th Arab League Summit in Amman, Jordan. The Parliament’s primary goal is to promote regional cooperation and address common challenges through legislative mechanisms.
The Arab Parliament includes delegates from Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

Turkey joined the organisation as an observer in 2010.
