Arab states denounce Trump’s plan to forcibly evict Palestinians

WEB DESK: In a diplomatic move, several Arab states categorically rejected a proposal from the United States (US) President, Donald Trump, who advocated for the forced eviction of Palestinians from their homeland.
The proposal drew widespread condemnation from prominent figures in the Arab world, including the foreign ministers of the Arab League, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), along with the representatives from the Palestinian Authority.

The joint statement released by these countries stated that Trump’s proposal represented a huge threat to regional stability. The foreign ministers expressed their apprehensions that such an extreme measure would not only heighten existing tensions but also incite further conflicts in a region already beset by instability.
They stated that the forced eviction of Palestinians would exacerbate the conflict and diminish the prospects for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
The Arab foreign ministers also firmly rejected any attempts at compromise on the rights of the Palestinian people, confirming their support for the Palestinian cause.
The Israel-Palestine conflict has been going on for decades, ever since the first Nakba in 1948 when occupying forces expelled the Palestinians from their lands and established the state of Israel.
The Palestinians have long sought acknowledgement of their rights and sovereignty, while Israel has maintained its stance regarding ‘security’ and territorial ‘integrity’.
Historically, the Arab League played an important role in championing Palestinian rights. Established in 1945, the League has consistently advocated for the Palestinian cause, calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem designated as its capital.

In recent years, the US has adopted a more ‘assertive’ role in Muddle Eastern affairs, particularly during the Trump administration. It’s approach to the Israel-Palestinian conflict included the controversial recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the introduction of the ‘Peace to Prosperity’ plan, which facing huge scepticism and criticism from Palestinian leaders and many in the Arab world.
